A Two - day Advanced Technical Training Program on “Design of Highways using MX Raod software”, for Fresh Civil Engineers, Students and Faculty of neighboring engineering colleges is happening at Vasireddy Venkatadri Institute of Technology, Nambur, from 2nd February 2018 to 3rd February 2018 by centre of excellence, Department of Civil Engineering.
A renowned consultant, having experience of working in various counties Mr. Sivath Kumar Nallapareddy, Director of M/s THISA Consulting Servicesis acting as the eminent Resource Person. Sri Sagar stated that the participants of this Training Program are very much fortunate to get the Unique Information from the prominent available resource on this MX Road domain.
Mr. N. Sivath Kumar, during his inaugural speech on the first day of program, inspired the participants about the importance of safe system approach in highway designs, an emerging concept and its incorporation in designs through softwares like MX Road. He said the in these two day program, more interesting applications will be explored with a practical approach by using the MX software.
Mr.Sivant commended the efforts of VVIT for organizing this kind of Advanced Training Programs for the budding Engineers to make them enough skillful and aware of technology utilization for the safety and betterment of Society and mankind. He appreciated the participants for being active learners and wished them to achieve all the objectives of this program.
Dr.Y.Mallikarjuna Reddy, Principal of VVIT, informed that, road safety is very important in the context of mixed Indian traffic with road features that are getting developed for high allowable speeds. Dr. Reddy informed that VVIT is always a step ahead in organizing this kind of Advanced Training Programs, for the benefit of their stake holders. Dr.T.Sridhar Babu, Head, Civil Engineering informed that for the aspiring Civil Engineers in the domain of Highways this program will serve the most promising content. Dr.Sridhar Babu, said every Civil Engineering student must be aware of this technology for integrating their core knowledge with it and get inspired by this program so that proficiency can be achieved in the MX Road software which will enhance the employability potential.
Convener of this Training program Prof. N.Kumara Swamy, Dean of Academics,VVIT, in this regard informed that the forthcoming sessions in the remaining days will focus on imparting hands on experience about developing optimized solution to complex highway projects using advanced software, namely MX Road, which streamlines the workflow & reduce the production cost and effectively incorporate the even advanced techniques in road safety namely, “Safe system approach”.
He also briefed that this advanced technical training program will begin with a brief about Highway projects. In this first session, concept to execution stage of the Highway projects along with importance of topographical survey shall be explained. In the same session introduction will be given to the advanced software namely MX Road that can be used for Highway design developed by M/s Bently. In the afternoon session of the Day-One hands on experience will be given for importing the data required for the highway design into the MX Road software. Subsequently creation of the Digital Terrain Model for horizontal alignment design of the highways with a quick method will be practiced. On the 2nd Day morning session a hands on practice for vertical alignment of highway and its geometric design regarding carriage way shall be provided. The concluding session of the program will be dealt for arriving at the optimum design solutions with the help of quantity estimation by speedily generating cross-sections of the road. A discussion will also be made on how these optimum solutions shall be converted into winnable tender documents during real time bidding. The conclusion session of the program will impart the significance of road safety detailing and the way it can be integrated in the designs which can improve the present Indian scenario of about 400 causalities /day because of road accidents.
